Resoltuions.

I think we've been doing the resolution thing wrong.

In the past I've been totally anti-resolution, I didn't see the point in taking one day and deciding to change a bunch of shit about ourselves all at once. I mean, science has proven that this is completely inaffective, right? (insert statistic about how many people fail their new year's resoltions, here.)

But what if we look at resolutions more as year long goals, and not something we're going to change overnight? Ideas of things that we just want to work on in 2015, things we want to build upon or build up in ourselves.

And if, for whatever reason, we're not perfect about it, it's not a reason to quit?
I made some pretty decent changes to my diet during the last quarter of 2015, and in a few short months I lost about 20lbs. I let that slide over a vacation home, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I knew New Years I was going to be getting back on track. It was kind of my safety net, if you will. Permission to enjoy myself a little bit knowing that there would be a timeline.

But there are other things I wanted to be better about. Things I really felt were important in 2016 for my own personal growth, as well as for the growth and betterment of my family.

So here they are. These are things that I want to make a part of my life in 2016 - and I'm going to try and update on them every couple of weeks or month or so.

1) Take care of myself better.
  - make and keep doctor's appointments for myself (first one 1/11!)
  - be kinder to myself for my shortcomings
  - exercise - goal, 45 minutes every other day.
  - continue eating healthier, lose this last 20lbs
  - make time to do activities that I enjoy

2) Read 25 books this year.
  - 1 done!

3) Make some decisions about my future education plans.

4) Spend less time on social media
  - I'm deactivating my facebook for a bit (it seems to be my biggest timesuck).

5) WRITE.
  - ultimate goal is 5hrs/wk, right now I'm working on 3.5hrs/wk, that's only 30m a day!

6) Be more patient, kind, and loving, especially with my kids

7) Keep my damn house clean, lol.

So there it is, and I'm at my 30 minutes today! I wish anyone who stumbles across this the best of luck in making their goals a reality this year :)
